Andrea Stone counsels school boards in many areas of education law, including special education law, student discipline and labor and employment law. In special education law, she provides representation in the provision of educational programming and services to disabled students, defending placement and programming decisions, counseling clients relative to disciplinary and other issues impacting disabled students. She also participates in mediation, training services, and administrative hearings relative to compliance with state and federal statutes governing the education of disabled students, including the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the No Child Left Behind Act. Andrea also represents school boards in a variety of employment litigation matters, defending claims against clients for age, race and disability discrimination; sexual harassment; breach of contract; defamation; retaliation; and wrongful termination.
