WORKERS’ COMPENSATION & OTHER EMPLOYEE BENEFIT ISSUES

The Firm has the capacity to represent boards in all aspects of workers’ compensation matters. We recognize the need to find a balance between fairly administrating employees’ workers’ compensation claims and minimizing premiums assessed by the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. The Firm can assist and guide in controlling/reducing workers’ compensation costs by carefully reviewing notification from the Bureau regarding claim allowances, other hearings at the Industrial Commission, and representing boards in appeals to court.

We also have experience assisting boards of education in dealing with the many issues raised by federal and state tax employee benefit laws, including:

Medical insurance issues under COBRA and the Public Health and Welfare Code;

Family and medical leave issues under FMLA;

Pre-employment and employment issues under the ADA;

Safety issues under OSHA/PERRA;

Pension issues under SERS and STRS; and

Unemployment compensation hearings and subsequent court appeals.
