Giselle S. Johnson practices exclusively in the area of school law, representing boards of education in policy development; human resources; labor and employment matters, including employee discipline, evaluation, contract non-renewal, and terminations; as well as legal matters involving students, including discipline, special education, and student records. Giselle has represented school districts before the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Civil Rights. Giselle served as the in-house chief counsel for the Dayton City Schools and Columbus City Schools for a combined 13 years. A former adjunct professor of education law at Capital Law School, Giselle has been a frequent presenter on school law topics around Ohio and throughout the country for organizations supporting education and school personnel. Giselle has been involved in a number of community service activities, including participating on the boards for Dayton Habitat for Humanity, Daybreak Team Shelter, March of Dimes, and National Federation of Business and Professional Women. She also is a former member of the board of directors for the National School Boards Association’s Council of School Attorneys and past board chair for the Ohio Council of School Board Attorneys.
