David Kane Smith is the firm’s managing director and coordinator of the firm’s litigation section. David represents public employers, especially school boards, in all aspects of school and employment law, including labor negotiations, arbitrations, workers’ and unemployment compensation matters, student discipline, and personnel matters. David has developed an extensive practice defending school boards in civil rights and employment discrimination cases in both federal and state court. David speaks regularly at a number of educational seminars and state-wide presentations. Moreover, he has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the field of education law since 2007 and has been rated AV® Preeminent™ through Martindale-Hubbell since 1990.
